What a Difference a Day Makes!

What a difference a day makes!, Kanata, Ontario

One of a number of Mourning Doves finding a bit of refuge from the wind in the trees behind my house. Definitely a wintery day here today.

Definitely not a day that I would want to be outside until I truly had to be. Cold, blustery winter weather swept in to the neighbourhood to replace reasonably nice winter weather and blue skies.

Even saying, “This weather is for the birds!” would not please the Mourning Doves (Zenaida macroura) that frequent my feeders in the winter months.

What an incredibly beautiful photograph ! I am not in Canada ~ actually south of Washington D.C., and have been observing a mated pair here in the country most of the Winter.

Thanks for commenting Bill. The bird itself was perhaps the coldest, most forlorn-looking bird that I have ever seen. It survived so perhaps and lot warmer than it looked.
