Kanata, Ontario heat wave – +27C – March 20th, 2012

Not sure what the official high temperature for the day might have been but at one point the thermometer in my car indicated that the outside temperature was +27C. In Lethbridge Alberta, the Women’s World Curling Championships are being played with whirling snow not far away while here in Ontario shorts are being worn instead of winter jackets.

My crocuses are flowering away ahead of schedule. Green shoots for my other Spring-flowering bulbs like tulips and daffodils are popping up everywhere.

On my way home, I decided to stop in at the Old Quarry Trail to see if there were any deer around. The snow is almost all gone both in the open areas and in the wooded areas. The main trails are pretty dry and there are only a few patches of snow on the side trails.

I was able to see one Wild Turkey and one White-Tailed Deer. I was happy to see that this particular deer had made it through another winter since I had photographed it as a fawn in 2007.
