Supreme Court Of Canada – July 1st, 2011

Today, I was on my way to participate in the Canada Day Celebrations and maybe to find a spot to photograph Ottawa’s Royal visitors one more time. So, having completed my blog of Will and Kate at the Cenotaph from the day before, I headed down to Parliament Hill.

I noticed as I was passing the Supreme Court of Canada Building, that the doors were open and people were coming and going in numbers. I have photographed the outside of the Supreme Court of Canada in the past but have never gone inside so …. in I went!

During the summer, the building is open to the public from 9-5 so I’ll have to return some day for a look at some of the other chambers.

I learned something new today! The Supreme Court has a mascot and his/her/its name is Abacus.

Couldn’t stay too long since the steady stream of people was heading for Parliament Hill and I thought that I had better head back out into the sunshine and join the migration pattern.
