Anhinga Trail, Florida – The Tale of the Black Vultures

The Anhinga Trail in the Everglades National Park in southern Florida attracts a great many tourists and a great many Black Vultures.

What the unsuspecting tourist might not realize is that the Black Vultures (Coragyps atratus) just love to peck at some varieties of windshield wipers and many other rubber compounds found on modern cars. If you happen to be lucky enough to own a vehicle that they take a liking to, then don’t be surprised by scenes like this when you return to your car.

Love that innocent look.

Thankfully, they showed no interest in my bike tires!
