Kanata (Ottawa), Ontario – A bit of Freezing Rain

Ottawa residents awakened this morning to an ice-covered wonderland unless, of course, your car was parked outside and you wanted to get to work, in which case, it wasn’t such a wonderland. Temperatures were hovering around -4C this morning so a lot of scraping was being done in near darkness.

Salt crews have been out overnight so the main arteries aren’t too slippery but sidewalks and side streets still present perilous conditions for the unwary. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach maybe +1C so if the sun breaks through even a little bit, the evidence of the freezing rain should disappear quickly.

One feeder was empty so the other feeder was getting extra attention from the Chickadees today.
