African Safari – October 25th – Lake Nakuru National Park and Monkeying around

After a long drive along some bumpy roads, we arrived at our first National Park. Before even getting through the gates, we saw some monkeys, photographed some monkeys and even got chased by some of the little monkeys.

Although monkeys caught the attention of most visitors, Ron could be seen stalking the birds in the parking lot. He finally caught up with this Ruppell`s Long-tailed Starling.

Ruppell`s Long-tailed Starling (Lamprotornis purpuropterus)

The monkeys around the gate were referred to as the Blue-balled monkeys because of the bright blue scrotum of the male monkey but their more scientific name was Vervet Monkey (Chlorocebus pygerythrus). They were fun to photograph as the young played and tussled with each other. Fun that is until the young decided to come after me!
