African Safari – Getting to our Lake Nakuru accommodation

After leaving the monkeys at the gate of the park, we began the journey on rough, unpaved roads to the end of the lake where our accommodation was located. We would be staying the night at: Lake Nakuru Lodge.

We stopped to photograph a few of the birds and animals as we made our way briskly along the trail. This was just a teaser for what we would see and do after dropping our bags and having a bit of lunch at the lodge.

Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris)

There were quite a few different bird species around the gardens of the lodge so before we headed out on our evening safari, I walked around the grounds photographing as many of the birds as would accommodate my presence.

African Hoopoe (Upupa epops africana)

African Pied Wagtail (Motacilla aguimp)

Ring-necked Dove (Streptopelia capicola)

Speckled Pigeon or (African) Rock Pigeon (Columba guinea)

White-eyed Slaty Flycatcher (Dioptrornis fischeri)

Hadada Ibis (Hagedashia hagedash)
